Compliance Consultant - Houston
POSITION TITLE: Consultant, Compliance
LOCATION: Houston (Metro), TX
REPORTS TO: Manager, Compliance Services
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering or related fields, or 5 years of equivalent experience
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to interact with clients
- Able to multi-task, manage priorities, meet deadlines, and travel on short notice
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to market to new prospects
- Knowledgeable about environmental regulations as they relate to the energy or manufacturing industries and recent experience in preparing plans and/or permits that are pertinent to such requirements. These regulations include, but are not limited to: Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA ‘90), and Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
- Knowledgeable about clients’ standard operating procedures, such as for handling dry cargo, liquid cargo, and hazardous material, as well as security and prevention measures
- Knowledgeable about practices used to address clients’ unexpected emergencies, such as the National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), crisis management, business continuity, and emergency response
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledgeable about current Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issues such as the Marine Transportation Security Act (MTSA), Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), and the Port Security Grant Program (PSGP).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Creates, develops and maintains relationships with assigned clients
- Demonstrates trustworthiness, reliability and quality of work to clients to generate further business
- Updates and maintains various regulatory compliance plans
- Interprets state and federal agency regulations and applies regulatory knowledge to assist clients
- Performs field work as needed
- Visually inspects client sites to ensure compliance, and assists in achieving compliance, if necessary
- Acts as a liaison between clients and regulatory agencies
